How to recreate a childhood photo with how you look today

Updated · Reviewed by The Rift team

Short answer

Add the childhood photo and a recent photo of each person in Rift, and tell Spark, Rift's video agent, 'recreate this photo with us as we look now, same pose, same outfits'. Spark keeps the setting and composition and swaps in grown-up you. Make the before and after pair, or turn the new one into a short video, and post them side by side.

Add the old photo and a recent photo of each person, and Spark rebuilds the same scene with you as you look now. Post the before and after side by side.

What you need

Step by step

  1. Add the photos in Rift.
  2. Say who’s who in the old photo.
  3. Say what stays: pose, place, outfits.
  4. Check the Draft and tap Make.
  5. Post the pair.

Tips

Questions people ask

Can I do it with my siblings?

Yes, with their OK. Add a recent photo of each and say who's who.

Do I need to keep the old outfits?

It's funnier if you do. Say "same outfits, adult size".

What if I only have one recent photo of each person?

That is enough. Add one clear, recent photo of each person and say who is who.

My childhood photo is faded.

Ask Spark to restore it first, then recreate it.
