How to keep the same character across AI videos

Updated · Reviewed by The Rift team

Short answer

Use the same clear photos every time and describe the same look: hair, clothes, mood. Many apps still let the face drift between clips, so save the character instead of starting over. In Rift you add a person, pet or creature once from a few photos as a character, then tell Spark, Rift's video agent, which scene they're in, and reuse them in any video.

A series only works if people recognise the star. Consistency comes from the same inputs, every time.

What you need

Step by step

  1. Add the character once in Rift from your photos.
  2. Name them, so you can call them in a line.
  3. Tell Spark the scene and who is in it.
  4. Check the Draft, then tap Make.
  5. Reuse the same character in the next video.

Tips

Questions people ask

Why does my character look different each time?

Each clip is made fresh, so small changes in face, hair or clothes can creep in unless you reuse the same reference.

How many photos do I need?

A few clear ones, from slightly different angles, with good light.

Can I use a friend as a character?

Only with their yes. Ask first.

Can a pet be a character?

Yes. Add a few clear photos of your pet and reuse them like a person.
