How to make a skincare or drink bottle video with a water splash

Updated · Reviewed by The Rift team

Short answer

Add a clean photo of the bottle or jar to Rift, then tell Spark the splash you want, such as water bursting up around it on a pale background with the label facing the camera. Check the Draft and tap Make. You get a video of up to 15 seconds in your Library. A sharp, front-on photo keeps your label readable.

Add your product photo and tell Spark the splash. Rift makes the water-burst shot as a video of up to 15 seconds, with no tank, lights or high-speed camera.

What you need

Step by step

  1. Add the photo. Open Rift and add the bottle.
  2. Name the splash. The liquid, how it moves, what is behind it.
  3. Check the Draft. Spark shows the shot and what stays fixed, such as the bottle shape and label.
  4. Make. Tap Make and the video is saved to your Library.
  5. Pick your favourite. Try a second take with another liquid or colour.

Beyond bottles

Candles, soap bars, shampoo, sauces, sports drinks, a ceramic cup. If a splash, a drip or a mist suits the product, the steps stay the same.

Questions people ask

Will my label stay readable?

Text that is sharp and facing the camera in your photo carries through best. Check the Draft and the result, and try again with a closer photo if it blurs.

Can I use it for a drink can or a bottle?

Yes. Cans, bottles, jars, tubes and pump bottles all work the same way.

Can the splash be milk, juice or oil instead of water?

Yes. Name the liquid in your line.

Do I need to splash anything myself?

No. The photo is all you need.

Can I choose the background colour?

Yes. Say it in your line, such as a pale blue or a soft pink, and check it in the Draft.
