How to reuse one holiday video for every family member with a new photo

Updated · Reviewed by The Rift team

Short answer

Make one holiday video you like in Rift, then save its Draft as a format. For each relative, open the format, add that person's photo and Make again. Spark keeps the same scene, motion and timing and swaps in the new face. Every Make shows its price on the button first. Rift is an iPhone app; each video is up to 15 seconds.

Build one holiday scene, save it as a format, and add a new photo for each relative. Ten small jobs become one job and nine photos.

What you need

Step by step

  1. Make the first video. Build the scene with Spark and Make it.
  2. Save the Draft as a format. Give it a name you will remember.
  3. Open the format for the next person. Add their photo.
  4. Check the Draft. Make sure the face and the outfit look right.
  5. Make. Repeat for each relative. Each result is saved in your Library.

Questions people ask

Does each video cost the same?

Every Make shows its price on the button before you tap, so you see it each time.

Can I change the greeting per person?

Rift does not add text over video yet. Write each greeting in the message you send.

Will the scene stay identical?

Yes, the format keeps the look, moves and timing. Only the person changes.

Can I swap the pet instead of a person?

Yes. Use a photo of the pet.

Can I use the format again next year?

Yes. A saved format stays in Rift, so you can run it again with a new photo.
