How to make outfit change and try-on videos

Updated · Reviewed by The Rift team

Short answer

Add a photo of yourself and photos of the clothes to Rift, then tell Spark the look you want, like a hard cut from pyjamas to a night-out outfit. Spark plans the shots, you check the Draft, and tap Make. You get a try-on or outfit change video of up to 15 seconds. Rift is an iPhone app.

Outfit videos run on one idea: the pose stays still and the clothes change. It is a fun format and a handy shopping tool. You can test a jacket before you buy it, or show a whole week of looks in a few seconds.

What you need

Step by step

  1. Add your photo. Start in Rift and pick yourself.
  2. Add the clothes. Add a photo of each item or look.
  3. Choose the format. A hard cut, a spin, or a straight try-on.
  4. Check the Draft. Spark shows the order of looks and the setting.
  5. Make. Tap Make. Find it in your Library.

Tips for a clean result

Beyond fashion

Use it for costume ideas, uniform comparisons, a wedding guest planner or a school kit order. Anything worn can be tried on in a photo before the money is spent.

Questions people ask

Can I try on clothes I don't own yet?

Yes. Add a product photo of the item and Spark puts it on you.

What is a hard cut?

A sudden switch from one outfit to the next, usually on a beat, with the same pose.

Can I try several outfits?

One video is one shot of up to 15 seconds. Two or three looks fit, more are better as separate videos.

Does it work for menswear?

Yes. Suits, streetwear, sports kits and workwear all work.

Will the clothes fit my body shape?

Spark dresses the person in the photo. A full-length photo helps.
