Some effects used to need a rig of cameras or a weekend in an editing app. Now you can name the effect in a few words and give Spark a single photo to start from.
What you need
- An iPhone with Rift.
- One sharp photo with a clear subject: a person standing, a pet mid-jump, a car on a road.
- An effect in mind. If you are not sure, describe what you want to see and Spark picks the closest.
Step by step
- Open Rift and add your photo. Choose it from your camera roll.
- Name the effect. Tell Spark in one line, for example “bullet time around me”.
- Check the Draft. Spark plans the shots and shows a Draft. The price is on the Make button.
- Make. Tap Make. Leave the app if you like, and Spark tells you when it is ready.
- Adjust and go again. Ask for a slower swing, a closer start or a different ending, and Make again.
Lines to try with Spark
- “Bullet time around me mid-jump, frozen, camera sweeping 180 degrees.”
- “Five clones of me walking out of a doorway, one after another.”
- “Earth zoom: start on my street from space and fall in to my front door.”
- “My dog vanishes in a puff of glitter, then reappears.”
- “My red car melts into the road like warm wax.”
- “My mug of coffee melts, then reforms” (add a product photo).
Tips for one-photo effects
- Choose a photo with room around the subject. Cropped tight leaves nothing to move. A little empty space helps.
- A clear pose beats a busy one. Bullet time loves a mid-action pose. Clones love a person walking.
- One effect per video. Chaining three is how effects turn muddy. Name the main one and add a small detail.
- Say the ending. “Vanish, then the empty room” tells Spark where the shot lands.
- Keep the light even. Hard shadows on a face can carry into the motion.
Reading the result
Watch the first second and the last second. The first tells you if Spark understood your photo; the last tells you if it understood the ending. If the start is wrong, swap the photo for a cleaner one. If the ending is wrong, say it in words: “end on the empty street” or “end on my face, smiling”. Small changes like these keep what already works, and the Draft shows the price each time before you tap Make.
Make a few versions of the same effect with different photos. The effect that looks flat on a seated pose often sings on a walking one, and you only find out by trying.
Beyond people
Product photos suit melts and vanishes, a house photo suits an earth zoom, and a pet photo suits clones. If you can describe it in a sentence, you can try it.
