How to make an old wedding photo move

Updated · Reviewed by The Rift team

Short answer

Take a clear photo or scan of the wedding picture and add it to Rift. Ask Spark for a gentle movement, such as a smile, a veil lifting or a slow push in. Check the Draft, tap Make, and the photo moves for up to 15 seconds in your Library. Restore it first if it is faded or scratched.

Add the wedding photo and tell Spark the small movement, such as a veil lifting in the breeze, a laugh or a glance. It becomes a short video.

What you need

Step by step

  1. Capture the photo. Lay the print flat by a window and photograph it from straight above. Crop the border.
  2. Add it to Rift. Pick it from your camera roll.
  3. Restore it if needed. Faded, creased or yellowed? Ask Spark to restore it first. See restore an old photo and bring it to life.
  4. Tell Spark the movement. Tap Turn into a video and say what should move.
  5. Check the Draft and Make. The price is on the Make button. The video lands in Library.
