How to make the after shot for a Halloween makeup transition

Updated · Reviewed by The Rift team

Short answer

Film your own before clip, ending when a hand or hood covers your face. Add a still from that moment to Rift and tell Spark, Rift's video agent, the finished look, such as a witch or a vampire. Tap Make for the after shot, up to 15 seconds. Rift makes that one shot, and you join the two clips in your posting app.

The makeup transition is two halves: a plain you, a hand over the camera, and then the full character. Rift makes the second half. You film the first and do the join.

What you need

Step by step

  1. Film the before clip and stop when your hand covers your face.
  2. Save a still from just before or after the cover.
  3. Add it in Rift and tell Spark the finished look.
  4. Check the Draft. The price is shown on the Make button before you tap, then tap Make.
  5. Join the clips in your posting app, cutting on the hand.

Tips

Questions people ask

Does Rift join the two clips for me?

No. Rift makes the after shot only. Join it to your before clip in your posting app.

How do I get the cut to match?

End your before clip with a hand over your face, and use a frame from that moment as the photo.

Can I use a pet or a friend?

Yes, with their OK. Add their photo and say the costume.

What should the after shot show?

The full character after the hand passes over the camera. Describe the makeup and costume to Spark.
