How to show a product idea in a video before it is made

Updated · Reviewed by The Rift team

Short answer

Add a sketch or a prototype photo in Rift and tell Spark, Rift's video agent, how the product looks and moves: a bottle turning on a table, a bag opening, a lamp glowing. Check the Draft, tap Make, and you get a concept video of up to 15 seconds. Say plainly it is a concept, not the finished product.

Add a sketch or a prototype photo and Spark shows how the product looks and moves in a short concept video. It can help friends, backers or a supplier see what you mean.

What you need

Step by step

  1. Add the sketch or photo in Rift.

Tips

Questions people ask

Do I have to say it is a concept?

Yes. Label it a concept so no one thinks it is on sale or exactly as it will ship.

Can I start from a hand sketch?

Yes. A clear sketch with notes on colour and material is enough to start.

Can I use it to get pre-orders?

Be clear what it is. Say it is a concept video and describe what will really be sold.

Can I show it being used?

Yes. Add a hand or a person, with their OK, and say what they do with it.
