How to make faceless videos without showing your face

Updated · Reviewed by The Rift team

Short answer

Make a character once in Rift from a few photos or a description, then use it in every video instead of yourself. Tell Spark, Rift's video agent, the scene or share a trend to remake with the character. Spark keeps the same face and look across videos. Pets, products and places work too. Each video is up to 15 seconds and yours to post.

Make a character once from a few photos or a description, and Rift puts it in every video so your page never needs your face. The same idea works for a pet, a product or a place. To make a character copy moves from a clip, see how motion transfer works on iPhone.

Pick your face that isn’t your face

Step by step

  1. Make the character once. Add a few photos, or describe them to Spark, and save the one you like.
  2. Give it a pattern. The same opening, the same trait, a new situation each time.
  3. Start each video from a trend you share into Rift, or a line to Spark.
  4. Check the Draft and Make. Everything lands in your Library, ready to post.

Tips for faceless pages

Questions people ask

Can I make a character that doesn't look like anyone real?

Yes. Describe the character to Spark and save the one you like. Keep it original, not a celebrity or a branded character.

Will the character look the same in every video?

That's what a saved character is for. Spark uses the same face and look each time you name it.

Can a faceless page use trends?

Yes. Share the trend into Rift and say "my character does this".

Can the character talk?

Not in the app yet. Rift videos are silent for now, so faceless pages built on sound add it when posting.
