How to make a pregnancy or baby announcement video from a photo

Updated · Reviewed by The Rift team

Short answer

Pick the photo that tells the news, like your scan, tiny shoes or your dog wearing a 'big sister' bandana, and add it in Rift with a photo of you if you want to appear. Tell Spark, Rift's video agent, the reveal: 'slow push in on the scan photo on the fridge, morning light'. Tap Make for a video up to 15 seconds, then add your words when you post.

Add the photo that tells the news and describe the reveal, and Spark makes a short video from photos you already have. You don’t need to film anything while you’re keeping the secret.

What you need

Step by step

  1. Add the photos in Rift.
  2. Tell Spark the reveal in one line.

Questions people ask

Can Rift add "Baby coming in May" text?

Text over the video isn't in the app yet. Add your words when you post or send it.

Can our pet be in it?

Yes. Pets in announcements are a favourite. Add a clear photo of them.

Is my scan photo private?

Rift asks after your first video whether it may learn from your videos, and the answer is off until you say yes. You can delete what you make.

Can I tease the news without showing a face?

Yes. Use the scan, tiny shoes or a pet photo and leave people out of the shot.
