How to make a car appear behind you in a night video

Updated · Reviewed by The Rift team

Short answer

Add a photo of yourself and a photo of the car to Rift, then tell Spark, Rift's video agent, the scene: a night car park, you stand still, and the car pulls in behind you with its lights on. Check the Draft, tap Make, and you get one shot of up to 15 seconds. Add the counting cards in your posting app.

Add a photo of yourself and tell Spark a car’s headlights arrive behind you at night. The calm before the reveal is what sells it.

What you need

Step by step

  1. Add your photo and the car’s photo to Rift.
  2. Set the scene for Spark: where, what time and how the car arrives.
  3. Keep it simple: one person, one car, one slow arrival.
  4. Check the Draft. The price is shown on the Make button before you tap, then tap Make.
  5. Open Library and add any numbers or sound in your posting app.

Tips

Questions people ask

Can it be my real car?

Yes. Add a clear side-on photo of it, and say the colour and the lights you want.

Does it count down with cards or numbers?

Text over video isn't in the app yet. Hold up real cards in your photo, or add numbers in your posting app.

Can the car be a different one?

Yes. Describe any car in words, such as a black coupe, and Spark builds it.

Can I use a clip I saw?

Yes. Share it into Rift and add your photo and your car's photo to put them in the same scene.
