What is the two person dance trend and how do you make one?

Updated · Reviewed by The Rift team

Short answer

The two person dance trend shows a pair doing the same routine side by side, in step. In Rift, add a clear full-body photo of each person, tell Spark, Rift's video agent, to copy the moves from a clip you share, check the Draft and tap Make for a video of up to 15 seconds.

Two people, one routine, and the fun is in how closely they match. It is one of the easiest dance formats to try with a friend.

How the format works

Why it works

Matching is satisfying, and a pair is easy to cast. You do not need a crew or a practice room, just two people who like each other.

Make your own in Rift

  1. Tap Share on the clip you want to copy and pick Rift.
  2. Add a clear full-body photo of each person.
  3. Tell Spark: “Me on the left, Sam on the right, same routine, on a rooftop at sunset.”
  4. Check the Draft and tap Make.
  5. Find the video in your Library and post it.

Rift makes one shot of up to 15 seconds. For the full guide, see group dance video from one photo. To copy the steps from a clip, see how motion transfer works on iPhone.

Ideas for a new take

Keep it fun

Use your own photo or a friend’s with their say, and keep it clear it is made for fun.

Questions people ask

Do we both need to be there?

No. Each person only needs a photo, and you can be in different cities.

Can it be a friend and a pet?

Yes. Add the pet's photo and say it dances next to you.

Can I use a friend's photo?

Only with their OK. Ask first, then add them as a character.

Does it keep the song?

Rift makes the video. Add the trend's song in your posting app when you post.
